Latvian Network of Patient Organizations (LPOT) was established with a goal to improve quality of life of patients in Latvia, access to various healthcare services, promote development of legal, effective and inclusive healthcare system in Latvia. Currently around 30 patient organizations, which comply to agreed definition of patient organization, have united in voluntary, informal civil society network. Together it prepares conclusions, proposals and opinions about various current topics in healthcare and represents interests of all patients within Council of National Health Service and in Strategic Council of Healthcare at Ministry of Health, as well as has signed memorandum of cooperation with Ministry of Health.
To strengthen the network and its operations, implementation of this project will result in creation of necessary infrastructure for improvement of patient organization cooperation and further successful overall patient advocacy. The tasks of this project include
- improvement of network governance,
- awareness building activities,
- identification of member organization competences and needs for trainings, and
- establishment of cooperation with other patient organization networks.
