Human rights
The objective of the program: increased support and awareness on human rights in Latvian society.
Total amount for the program: 630 000 EUR
Expected program outcomes:
- Support for human rights in Latvian society has increased.
- Availability of services provided by civil society organizations to victims of discrimination and human rights violations has raised.
- Share of people who do not know where to find help in cases of discrimination has decreased.
THE PROGAM WILL SUPPORT ACTIVITIES OF CIVIC SOCIETY ORGANISATIONS (CSO) in the following areas:
- Awareness-raising on human rights – civic education initiatives (formal and informal), broad public campaigns, initiatives on intercultural dialogue.
- Reinforcement of CSO working in human rights – involvement in decision-making processes, monitoring of human rights processes, preparation and publication of researches and reports on tolerance and discrimination in Latvia, provision of services to victims of discrimination and human rights violations, advocacy, including court proceedings.
THE PROGRAM FUNDING WILL BE GRANTED only to strategic projects with a systemic vision on their importance and long-term impact on strengthening the participation of Latvian civil society and individuals, and the empowerment of vulnerable groups.
- Three calls for proposals: in 2020, 2021 and 2022
- Project duration: 2-4 years
- Grant amount per project: 40 000 – 105 000 EUR *With a possibility to receive extra points at the selection process if the project involves cooperation with an organization in Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway. For information on collaborative support, see here.
